We’re looking for an experienced mechanic to join our small independent workshop in Burton-on-Trent.
Most of our work is Jaguar and Land Rover, but we also work on BMW, MINI and other European cars.
We don’t need a Master Technician or an engine builder. We’re looking for a good all-round mechanic who can be given a job and get on with it without needing someone standing next to them telling them what to do at every step.

What kind of work?
We do a lot more than servicing and brakes. Typical jobs include:

• Engine and gearbox removal and installation
• Timing chains and timing belts
• Engine and drivetrain repairs
• Suspension and brake work
• Diagnostics and fault finding
• General mechanical repairs

You should be comfortable using diagnostic equipment, reading fault codes and live data, and have enough experience to understand what the information is actually telling you.

What we’re looking for?
Ideally, you’ll have at least 3 years of workshop experience.
You should be able to work independently, use your own judgement and have a sensible approach to solving problems.
Experience with Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW or MINI would be useful, but it isn’t essential. If you’re a good mechanic, you’ll soon get used to the cars we work on.
You’ll need:

• A full UK driving licence
• Your own tools
• Good mechanical experience
• To be comfortable with larger jobs such as engines, gearboxes and timing work

What’s it like working here?
We’re a small independent garage, not a main dealer or a large workshop chain.
We don’t work with unrealistic productivity targets or expect you to rush a job just because a book says it should take a certain number of hours.
Obviously, we expect you to work at a reasonable pace, but if a job takes longer because that’s what is needed to do it properly, then it takes longer.
We would rather have a car leave the workshop properly repaired than save an hour and have it come back.

Pay and hours
£36,000–£40,000 per year, depending on experience
Monday to Friday
9:30 am–6:00 pm
No Sundays or bank holidays.
Saturdays are only by agreement — they are not part of the normal working week.
Workplace pension included.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
